Mission Statement
Member elected committees will  create new standards for new varieties,
while updating existing standards,
with the intention of submission to AFRMA.
To establish breed/variety definitions for improvement of the rat fancy.
To collectively decide on direction for each proposed breed/varety to take.
And create expectations for standards for which we can work towards, collectively.

The purpose of this group is to create a central source of information and suggested ideals for varieties available, in the fancy rat. This project is in support of creating unity within the fancy, as well as creating a common direction within varieties. It is not in support of, nor against any particular club.

There is a lack of continuity, presently. And correct or current information is hard to find. New breeders have to rely on facebook groups and disconected websites to gain an understanding. This system really just makes things hard on everyone, and so much is lost and/or remains unclear.
The first goal is to borrow or create suggestions for the ideal in varieties available in rats. We have a website created, where this information will be listed/stored along with genetic information, some history, and clear photos.
This will hopefully offer people coming into the fancy, some solid information they can use to create their own goals, and give them the understanding on how to reach those goals. People do not have to follow these "suggestions." They are merely there for the purpose of suggestion, and education.
This project is not meant to push anyone to accept any one club.

The intention is to not endorse nor detract from any current clubs.

We need everyone's involvement. This is a big undertaking. If you feel you have something to offer, please speak up. If you can write, research, etc. we need you. Choose one variety you would like to work on putting together the info for, and nominate yourself! Have some close friends who share lines help out, and lets get this together!
Thanks!

This is a project geared toward varieties found in North America.
The current immediate goal is a site similar to Hawthorn's where people can find collective information on all varieties in North America. Not only standardized ones by different clubs.

Currently, there are clashing information due to differences in clubs or simply information that is out of date. So this project wants to branch everything together to aide NA fanciers.

Some of the varieties may just be exactly maintained standards.

We'd also like to include more then just a basic standard, maybe tips on how to improve, breeders notes, genetics, etc.
Maybe there's something missing out of a standard that people feel should be added.

The purpose of a standard is to breed and exemplify variety specific traits.

And a standard gives people a set of uniformed goals to breed for those exemplified traits. If one has rats that does not adhere to the standard, then they could use the standard as guidelines towards a goal.

Reviews: Anyone may submit their revision with the supporting information. Then the president and the committee would decide whether there is enough information to make a revision via vote, and take the information to the members they could yay, or nay it.
